This is the last of three videos from the recent epic weekend. I definitely got my motorcycle fix with four canyon rides over three days:
On Sunday, I got 51 miles per gallon between Lakewood and Estes Park. In theory, the Road King with its 6-gallon tank should go 300 miles on a tank of gas. I'll find out this summer when I take a road trip out to Utah.
Here's a few minutes on the Big Thompson Canyon road, headed east for Loveland Colorado.
- Sunday- South St Vrain Canyon, Peak To Peak Highway, Big Thompson Canyon
- Tuesday- rode with J and M up Coal Creek Canyon to Nederland, had lunch at the Pioneer Inn, returned by Clear Creek Canyon

Wow, what a great road. Green with envy as it's raining and about 35 degrees here today. :(
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun ride.
ReplyDeleteI miss the mountains. Real mountains. When we ride to the coast our summit is less than 800 ft. It is better to ride over the Cascade Mountains to the East, but not the same awe factor as the big mountains.
Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, motorcycling in Colorado is mostly about the mountains- unless you get out east on the plains, where the roads are straight as an arrow and flat as a pancake. We are looking forward to some truly epic mountain rides this summer when all the snow melts up high- such as Pike's Peak, where the parking lot at the summit is 14,110 feet. The visitor center on top has an oxygen bar.

ReplyDeleteI kinda like sitting on your left handlebar. You get a nice view there. I kept looking at the VW following the other rider TOO CLOSELY. You kept the correct distance.
Looked like a lovely day for a leisurely ride through the canyon

Yeah I mount the camera on the left side of the tank. It's a great view.
